Our Team- So Far

Founder, ThriveCounts | Bookkeeper | Systems Thinker | Theatre Veteran

Before bookkeeping, I lived a full and fabulous life in the theatre. I hold a BFA in Theatre from Tarleton State University, and I’ve been on or behind the stage for over 33 years. For the last 20, I’ve worn just about every leadership hat there is—director, assistant director, stage manager—guiding casts and crews of up to 200 with a clipboard in one hand and a headset in the other. At the height of my theatre life, I was producing, designing, and stage managing 62 shows in just 6 years across 4 local semi-professional and professional theatres. That averaged out to 10 shows a year, often juggling 3 at a time. (Yes, caffine was involved.)

One of my longest and most beloved commitments has been to The Promise in Glen Rose, where I’ve served for 31 years—portraying every female role, a few male ones, and stepping into production team roles, most recently as Assistant Director for the 2024 seasons. And if you’re wondering, my favorite on-stage role to date? Mama Shrek and Mama Bear—and yes, I brought the sass and heart to both.

So how did I go from theatre to bookkeeping? Honestly, it all comes back to people, process, and passion. Theatre gave me a deep love for working with teams, solving problems on the fly, and making magic happen behind the scenes. It also gave me a front-row seat to chaos—and a serious craving for efficiency. I’d watch businesses (and productions!) spin their wheels over things that could be streamlined and think, There has to be a better way! That’s where my bookkeeping journey began.

I launched ThriveCounts after years of learning, research, and hands-on experience as a bookkeeper with one big goal: to help small business owners stop surviving and start thriving. I know what it’s like to carry the weight of the whole show—your business, your family, your dreams. And I also know the magic that happens when everything clicks, the team pulls together, and the curtain rises. Tech week may feel a lot like tax season—high pressure, lots of deadlines—but with the right support, the first and final performance are worth it.
